Galaxy Cafe plans to open a new location by late spring or early summer on Mesa Drive in Northwest Austin.
The new restaurant will be at 8127 Mesa Drive, Ste. A, in the former location of Spicewood Tavern, which closed in November.
Galaxy Cafe took over the space March 16, said Kelly Chappell of Intergalactic Productions, which manages Galaxy Cafe along with Top Notch and Zocalo Cafe. Chappell said she estimates it could take 60-90 days to redecorate depending on when furniture and equipment arrive. The new space will feature the clean and modern feel of the business’s other locations, she said. Galaxy Cafe hired Northwest Hills resident Joel Mozersky to design the space.
Chappell would not provide details about what features the new location would have, but she said Galaxy Cafe will serve coffee and brunch on weekends until 4 p.m. She said the Northwest Austin location will offer the entire menu, which focuses on using organic eggs, chicken and beer. www.galaxycafeaustin.com
Other Impacts
COMING SOON—In the same shopping center as Galaxy Cafe will be a new location of d’lites serving ice cream, custom shakes and specialty chocolate bars. Co-owners Alicia Ringuet and Doug French will open the location in April at 8127 Mesa Drive, Ste. 204B. Ringuet said the ice cream is low in carbs, sugar, calories and fat, and is also gluten-free.
Customers may create their own shakes using coconut, almond or skim milk and mix-ins, such as protein powder, Ringuet said. Customers will also be able to purchase low-carb and gluten-free baking mixes, protein bars, protein powders and Walden Farms products.
